Community Outreach

To enhance their quality of life, Lao Khmu Association, Inc. (LKA) assists members of the Southeast Asian (SEA) community of San Joaquin County to overcome their social and economic problems, and to work toward becoming independent, self-sufficient, and effective participants in American society. We strive to achieve this goal by reaching out to the community and by educating its members about the different programs that are available through LKA and other agencies.

LKA currently provides the following programs and services that to the local Southeast Asian community:

  • Parenting skills assessment and development
  • Immigration assistance
  • Translation / interpretation services
  • Food support
  • Childcare assistance
  • Agribusiness support
  • Mercury in fish education
  • Utility service assistance

Our Programs

Case Management Services

A county-based, public assistance program, the Center for Employment Opportunity (CEO) provides case management services to San Joaquin County CalWORKs' recipients.

Family Self-Sufficiency

Assist local Hmong refugees in overcoming various social and mental health problems that hinder their ability to become independent and self-sufficient citizens of their local communities.

Food Program

Lao Khmu Association, Inc. sponsors a Food Program through which fresh, processed, and canned foodstuffs are made available to low-income residents in the greater Stockton area.

Refugee Employment Assistance

This program has been designed so that we are able to recruit only the most motivated participants. These are not people being forced to work because of welfare reform.
